Description

Tayibe is a municipality in the Sharon , 12 Km east to Kefar Sava, with 30 000 inh., most of the Moslems. Founded about 500 years ago.
Taybe was transferred to Israel in accordance to the 1949 cease-fire agreement with Jordan after the Independence war. It became Local council in 1952 and municipality in 1990
It is usually refereed to as Tayibe BaSharon or Tayibe BaMeshulash (Tayibe in the Sharon/in the Triangle) to differ it from another Tayibe (Tayibe BaEmeq - Tayibe in the Valley).
The origin of the name is unknown. Researchers thinks that it came from the ancient Jewish village of Tibta
