The city emblem was adopted on Nov 15th 2006 by Notice No 470 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a black city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a Buddhist swastika which was a war insignia of the former Hirosaki Domain lord Tsugaru family. It represents a condignity and a happiness.

The city emblem was adopted on Nov 25th 1958 and the flag was adopted on Sep 1st 1988 by Notice No 46. The green flag has a gold city emblem in the center. The city emblem is three = Mi stylized katakana サ Sa of Misawa. The three arrows symbolize the pineneedles of the city's resources. The green color stands for an abandunt nature, pine trees bringing a calm and a plenitude, the gold color for an invariable brightness and a beauty. The flag proportion is 2:3.
