Coat of Arms

The coat of arms was adopted in 1988 and its designer is the engineer Homobono Arzate Padilla; the motto is the work of the engineer Agustín Vázquez Solís. Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:

In the upper part of the shield the profile view of the Mountain Range of La Gloria is found which is the point of orientation highest in the locality. In continuation a cultivated field, in which some furrows are observed as a symbol of the agricultural activities and the quality of the lands which surround the city, over the lands represented are cattle-raising which predominates in the region and mining with a gondola [sic; crossed pick and shovel], because of the mineral existent in Plomosas, Placer de Guadalupe, and Sierra de Peña Blanca. In the lower part the Chuvíscar River, whose waters go to agriculture, to one side of the forest touristic place [sic]; then some quinces which represent the production of fruits and ates. We also see the Temple of San Jerónimo which is the place where the life of the locality initiates [above the church is the Municipal Building]. Surrounding these elements a border formed by leaves of quinces. The motto which circles the shield is "Tierra Fértil para cosechar hombres grandes" [Fertile Land for harvesting great men].
