The coat of arms was designed by the architect Humberto Murillo Lozano, being approved by the council on 28 October 1989. Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:

It is resolved on Spanish field, the same of which is parted and cut, giving as a result 4 quadrants whose blazons are from top to bottom and left to right [sic]: The Florido River which carries over it the symbol of the Franciscans (the 5 wounds of Christ) 2 wolves carrying prey and 2 walnut trees, the first ones signifying that the inhabitants of Coronado achieve what they propose, the second ones fruticulture, 2 heads of bovine cattle from the front (a Spanish longhorn and a Hereford) represent cattle-raising, agriculture is represented by a bundle of wheat and a cob of corn, the temple of San Francisco Javier, true architectural jewel representing Catholicism occupies the fourth section, the year of 1723 makes allusion to the foundation of the Hacienda de Río Florido, in the bordure appear 4 shades, symbol of family tourism by the hour.

At the top is the name "CORONADO CHIHUAHUA", with the code 08 to the left for the state and 014 to the right for the municipality; these are codes used primarily by INEGI for statistical purposes. Above the shield is a ribbon reading "FLORIDO".
