The coat of arms was designed by the architect Humberto Murillo Lozano, being adopted by the council on 25 July 1989. Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:
6 sections integrate the field of this shield, the same of which carry the following blazons from top to bottom and left to right, the effigy of a Spaniard, facing that of a Tarahumara woman signifying through this the fusion of two cultures, the temple of Santa Rosa de Perú, Creole Saint patron of Cusihuiriachi, an esquipe or jug antique tool for extracting metal from the Mine, a cloud represents the hope which it has in the water of rain, a head of bovine cattle represents cattle-raising, as a complement of this shield the upper part of the same is crested or crowned by a ribbon with the original name of the Municipality; Santa Rosa de Cusihuiriachi, in the lower part another ribbon with the name of the founding Mine: Santa Rosa de Pirú (Perú). The year of 1687 makes allusion to the discovery of the antique mineral of Cusihuiriachi.
The upper section of the border reads "Cusihuiriachic Chihuahua", with the code 08 for Chihuahua to the left and 018 to the right for the municipality; these are used by INEGI for statistical purposes.
At the lower corners, hand-drawn winches for oil/water extraction are depicted. Above, there are two crossed leaves, in specific of the alligator juniper. At the upper corners of the
inner section are Pb for lead and As for arsenic, the primary metals of the mines. In the middle of the shield is the symbol of the Jesuits.
