Coat of Arms

The coat of arms was designed by the architect Humberto Murillo Lozano, being approved at a council session on 18 October 1989. Description according to Héraldica Municipal de Chihuahua:

Imposed upon Spanish field, the same of which is parted and cut producing four sections, containing the following blazons: The Temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe representing the Catholic religion, a bean for agriculture, an apple for fruticulture, a head of bovine cattle for cattle-raising, and a cloud the hope in the water of rain; the hoe and pitchfork crossed between it with a bundle of ears of oatmeal and a plant of corn make allusion to agriculture, a pine tree the forestal wealth [with two wolves carrying prey through it, a symbol of effort], and behind it the Christian cross, over the superior part of the border goes two antique plows. Enmarking the shield, by the sides right, left, and lower to the manner of a wreath, some branches of alligator juniper.

In the upper part of the bordure, there are the words "IGNACIO ZARAGOZA CHIHUAHUA", with the code 08 to the left for the state and the code 034 to the right; these codes are mainly used by INEGI for statistical purposes.
