K/S Nord-Polen A/S. the website shows two flags for this company with the second being a reverse colouring of blue with the arrows in white. It also differs from the Brown image in showing the arrow to hoist pointing down and that to fly pointing up [see no~n653a.gif for the 2nd blue flag] but as it also shows this arrangement for the funnel marks, and ship fotos show that Brown is indeed correct for them, I think we can take the Brown flag version as also being the most likely, with a possible blue base flag also having been used though in what connection is unclear. The company became Nor -Cargo A/S in 1989.

There is an image in All about Ships and Shipping 1938, in which the ropes look bluish. In Lloyd's 1957 is a description: "White, red rosette in loop of rope above knot; black N F D S. Funnel: Black, broad red band between two narrow white bands."

Det Nordlandsske Dampskibsselskab A/S

Seat: Bodø
The company was established on 13 August 1927 by overtaking the vessel SKJÆRSTAD together with the line Saltdal-Bodø-Trondheim from Saltens Dampskibsselskab. An attempt by starting a line to Hamburg in 1929 was bogged and ended in a freight war against Bergenske and Nordenfjeldske, which was ended in 1935. In autumn 1945 the company got an offer of partnership in the coastal express line. At the same time the cargo service was extended by a line Trondheim – Finnmark. As the company was unable to provide a modern ship for the express line, the partnership was lost at the end of 1958. The company later became a participant in coastal cargo operation Nord-Poolen. After losses the company merged with Saltens Dampskibsselskab in 1981. In 1991 OVDS gained the majority of Saltens shares, which from now became a subsidiary of the Narvik-based company.
Nordlandske had no houseflag. The yellow funnel was marked by a blue ring charged with white initials “NDS” and fimbriated white red on both sides.
But in Hamburg expedition in 2007 a flag had been displayed and we have it in our page
