The Flag

The Provincial municipality of Sechura (58,155 inhabitants in 2005; 63,703 ha), created on 29 January 1994 (Law No. 26290), is located in the Piura Region, coastal northern Peru.
The flag of Sechura, shown graphically on the municipal website, is vertically divided celeste blue-white-green with the municipal shield in the middle.
The municipal shield has a golden yellow border charged with the black writing "POR SIEMPRE / CON FE RIQUEZA / Y TRADICION / SECHURA (For ever / With faith, wealth / And tradition / Sechura) The shield shows, among different ladscapes, the St. Martin of Tours church of Sechura - a jewel of the colonial era -, and a sailboat recalling the local fisheries.
