Kostrzyn nad Odrą is in Gorzow Wielkopolski county; German: Küstrin or Cüstrin,
an industrial city on the Oder river at its confluence with the Warthe,
with (1981) 14.302 inhabitants. It has a 16th century castle, in which
Frederick the Great was held prisoner September - November 1730.
