Choroszcz - urban-rural commune, Białystok County, Podlaskie Voivodship.
Gmina Choroszcz is an urban-rural gmina (commune) in Białystok County,
Podlaskie Voivodship, in north-eastern Poland. Its seat is the town of
Choroszcz, which lies approximately 13 kilometres (8 mi) west of the regional
capital Białystok.
The commune covers an area of 163.5 square kilometres (63.1 sq mi),
and as of 2006 its total population is 12,957 (out of which the population
of Choroszcz amounts to 5,416, and the population of the rural part of
the commune is 7,541).(wiki).
The palace in Choroszcz was the summer residence of important Branicki
Family, and is now part of the Museum of Polish Interiors.
Arms and flag adopted on December 19, 2003 (resolution # VIII/86/03).
"Arms: on the red shield and under open gold crown there are: a.gray-violet
bullock and white griffin.
Flag: a rectangle of 100 cm in length and 75 cm in width divided into
four vertical bands of equal width in the color sequence (starting from
the hoist): yellow, gray-violet, white and red.
The ceremonial flag has the Coat of Arms placed in the center of the
flag on the axis of gray-violet and white bands."
