Herby -rural commune, Lubliniec County, Śląskie Voivodship.
Gmina Herby is a rural gmina (commune) in Lubliniec County, Silesian
Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Herby.
Area: 50.47 sq.km (19.5 sq.mi); Population: 6,981 (2006).
In the years 1815-1915 the village of Herby was situated right on the
border between Prussia and Russia and was divided by that border having
two separate railroad stations, the Prussian one and the Russian one just
a mile or so away.
As a result of the plebiscite of 1922 both halves of the village were
united and went to Poland. In the old Russian terminal there is now a small
Flag, in present form, adopted on May 28, 2008 (resolution # XVI/214/08).
Arms adopted earlier - exact date unknown.
There are no descriptions of either Arms or flag available anywhere,
which is very sad.
