Coat of arms

Shield Argent parted by saltire Azure charged with five bezants, in chief quarter a 5-point-star Azure, sometimes nimbed Or, in base quarter a bulldog couchant Marron. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "ABRIGADA".
Meaning:
The silver background and the charged saltire are taken from the arms of the Araújo kin. Gonçalo Vaz de Araújo erected the parish church of Our Lady of Grace in the 16th century. Furhermore the family owned at the same time a manor called "Quinta de Abrigada", which had an enormous agricultural and florestal area. The star is an attribute of Our Lady of Grace, the local patron saint. The bulldog is taken from the arms of Alenquer municipality.
