Shield Vert, a garlic Or, flanked by two embowed chains of wheat ears. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "ALHEIRA".
Meaning:
The garlic (Port.: alho) is a canting element.

Alheira was one of the 44 communes of Barcelos Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 1074 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 7,5 km².

Shield Azure, shifted to the base a basket Or, garnished Sable, flanked by two eradicated vine plants Argent fruited Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "IGREJA NOVA - BARCELOS".
Meaning:
The basket is representing arts and crafts, especially basketry. The vine plants are representing agriculture, especially viticulture. The region is famour for its "green vines".
