The arms are Purpure a bull passant Or hooved Sable and horned Argent holding on each of his horns a castle Argent masoned Sable with port and windows Sable. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (village rank) and red scroll reading in black upper case letters "ATOUGUIA DA BALEIA".
"Atouguia" derives from Latinate "Tauria" (ox land), and "da Baleia" means "of the whale", for a big whale that beached nearby in the early 1500ies (before silting put the coast farther north) - the arms being thus partly canting.
