Or field, 2 mounts Vert charged with Argent salt pyramid, over 5 wavy fess, 3 argent and 2 azure, in chief a purple bunch of grapes, leaved vert. Argent 3 towers mural crown (village rank) . White scroll with inscription in upper case black letters "FREGUESIA DE RIO MAIOR".

Rio Maior Commune is one of the ten communes of the Rio Maior municipality (q.v.); it had 12 005 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 82.9 km².
