About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of green and white.

Coat of arms

Shield Argent with base wavy of Vert and Argent, topped by a sailing boat Sable lined Argent and rigged Azure, in chief a fyke (Port: merjona) Gules at dexter and a scoop Gules at sinister. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SANTA LUZIA - TAVIRA".
Meaning:
The base wavy of green and white is representing the sea and all the other charges have to do with fishery, the economic base of the commune besides tourism.

Presentation of Santa Luzia

Santa Luzia Commune is one of the six communes of the Tavira municipality (q.v.); it had 1455 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 4.5 km². Santa Luzia gained the title of a town on 30 June 1999.
