It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Coat of arms

Shield Or with base wavy of Vert and Argent, a bunch of three arrows Gules tied Sable between a grapevine Purpure leaved Vert at dexter and a corn cob Gules leved Vert at sinister. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials "CHAFÉ".
The arrows are an attribute of St. Sebastian, the local patron saint. The base wavy is representing the Atlantic.
