Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a green shield is a silver bendy ladder. Upon the sinister chief point is a silver (=white) man wearing hat, stick and a knapsack and smoking a pipe. Upon the dexter base point is a silver (=white) blackcock.
Meaning:
According to source the ladder is symbolizing the former municipality of Schale. The ladder was canting, the name was derived from scala, the Latin word for ladder. The blackcock is symbolizing the former municipality of Halverde. The man is a linen trader, travelling around in the region backpacking his linen stuff (in the region he is known as Tödden. This trader has been taken from the arms of the old municipality of Hopsten.
