Coat of arms

The arms are Gules upon base wavy of Argent and Azure, in centre a baton Argent with a canteen of the Same flanked by two corn cobs Or (dexter chief and sinister heart) and two wheat ears Or (sinister chief and dexter heart). Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters ""EIRAS - COIMBRA".
Meaning:
The base wavy is probably symbolizing Mondego river. The crops are symbolizing agriculture. Baton and canteen are attributes of St. James the Elder (Portuguese: Santiago Maior).
Source: I spotted this flag on 27 September 2013 in the town hall of Coimbra.

Flag and coat of arms were approved on 17 December 1997, published in Diário da República: III Série.

Coat of arms

The arms are Argent, in centre a sword Gules with hilt Sable pointing to base, flanked by a bunch of grapes Purpure in dexter and a pine cone Gules in sinister, both leaved Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "S. PAULO DE FRADES".
