Coat of arms

Shield Gules with base wavy of Argent and Azure, issuant from base a mount Sable, over all a shepherd's staff Or, fixing a bowl of the Same, in chief a Maltese cross Argent in either corner. Mural crown Argent with five visible towers (city rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "CIDADE DE S. MAMEDE DE INFESTA".
Meaning: The Maltese crosses are alluding to the legacy of the Order of Malta, who had a seat in nearby Balio de Le?a as capital of the lands called "fiefdom (Couto) of Le?a", which included current S?o Mamede de Infesta. Staff and bowl are symbolizing the pilgrims heading to Santiago de Compostela.
