Fédération Française des Ports de Plaisance

Flag of the FFPP - Image by Ivan Sache, 14 April 2018

The Fédération Française des Ports de Plaisance (FFPP - French Federation of Yachting Ports; website) was established in 1982 in Marseilles, succeeding the Fédération Nationale des Ports de Plaisance (FNPP), which had been established on 25 June 1979 by the APPM (Association des Ports de Plaisance de la Méditerranée) and the U3P (Union des Ports de Plaisance du Ponant).
The FFPP, headquartered in Paris since 2004, groups six regional associations representing more than 300 ports:
- APPIF (Association des Ports de Plaisance Intérieurs Français), representing ports established on rivers, canals and lakes (except Lake Léman), headquartered in Nogent-sur-Marne;
- APL (Association des Ports du Lac Léman), representing the ports established on Lake Léman, headquartered at Sciez;
- UPNO (Union des Ports Nord-Ouest), representing the ports established on the Channel and the North Sea, headquartered in Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme;
- UPPPAC (Union des Ports de Plaisance Provence Alpes-Côte d'Azur), representing the ports established in the departments of Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône and Var, headquartered in Martigues;
- UPPC (Union des Ports de Plaisance de Corse), representing the ports established in Corsica, headquartered in Solenzara;
- UVPO (Union des Villes Portuaires d'Occitanie), representing the ports established in the departments of Gard, Hérault, Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales.
The ports of the Atlantic coast do not seem to be organized in a federation.

The flag of the FFPP is white with the federation's emblem, made of a dark blue mooring ring crossed by a red-white-blue wave, the acronym "ffpp", with "pp" in lighter blue, and, beneath, the full name of the federation, "des Ports de Plaisance" in lighter blue.
On the flag in actual use in Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, the emblem uses only a dark shade of blue.

The Qualité Plaisance (Yachting Quality) certification was established in 2017 by the FFPP, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, the Direction Générale des Entreprises (DGE, a directorate of the Ministry for the Economy and Finances), and Atout France (the French tourism development agency).
The certification scheme, based on 12 reference domains, offers five "excellence levels" illustrated by one to five mooring rings. The first Qualité Plaisance certificates were awarded to 16 ports during a ceremony held on 6 December 2017 at the Paris Nautic.
[Department of Manche, Press release, 8 December 2017]

The awardees are:

Sea ports
- 5 rings: Le Marin (Martinique), Gruissan;
- 4 rings: Saint-Cyprien, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme;
- 2 rings: Marseille Provence (Carry-le-Rouet, Sausset-les-Pins, La Ciotat, Pointe Rouge), Fécamp, Sainte-Maxime
River and lake ports
- 4 rings: Port Cergy, Port Lion;
- 3 rings: Paris Arsenal;
- 2 rings: Les Cerises, Sciez.

The flag awarded to the certified ports (photo, photo, photo) is white with the certification's emblem, made of the dark blue mooring ring recalling the emblem of the FFPP, inscribing with the writing, in dark blue letters "QUALITÉ / PLAISANCE" and "Fédération Française des Ports de Plaisance", the latter in very small letters, hardly legible on the flag. The ring lies on two waves, the upper dark blue and the lower lighter blue, inscribing the emblem of the FFPP, hardly legible, too.
